According to Hurriyet Daily News, in August 2020, Turkey's garment industry exported $1.5 billion to more than 160 countries around the world, an increase of nearly 11% compared with the same period in 2019, of which Germany, Spain and the UK accounted for nearly half. In August, the garment industry replaced the automobile industry to become the largest export industry of Turkey.

Exports to Germany rose 7 percent from a year earlier to $271 million in August, making it the largest export market, followed by Spain, up 14 percent to $250 million, the United Kingdom, up 27 percent to $184 million, and the Netherlands, up 33 percent to $125 million.

Turkey's apparel exports to the European Union rose nearly 16 percent to $1.2 billion.
